What is in it

Two rooms, a tub, and the trees.

The Oak Suites were the family bedrooms in 1911 and they still have the best bones in the house. Eleven foot ceilings, the original redwood trim, and tall windows on two sides. The sitting room has a sofa for two, a reading chair under a lamp, and a desk with a view down Bachman Ave.

The bedroom holds a king with an oak headboard made by a woodworker in Felton. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub by the window, a separate shower, and a double sink. The balcony takes two chairs and a small table, and in summer it is where the Oak Suite guests eat breakfast if they ask.

Suite 2 has the larger balcony. Suite 3 has the deeper tub and the quieter aspect, facing the side garden. Ask for either by number. Both are one ordinary flight up the main stair, so read the Attic Loft page too if stairs are a question.

Who it suits

Anniversaries, long stays, and anyone who works from the road.

If you are staying four nights or more, this is the room. The sitting room means one person can read while the other sleeps, or one can take a call while the other naps. The wardrobe is deep enough for a week, and there is a proper desk with a proper chair.

It is also our most booked room for birthdays and anniversaries. Tell us the occasion when you check dates and Teo will have something on the table in the sitting room when you arrive. Nothing elaborate. Usually it is a cake, sometimes a bottle, once it was a very specific sandwich.

It is not the right room if stairs are hard. It is one flight up from the hall and there is no elevator. The Garden Room is step free from the car.
